Week 2 Recap: Ohio State Dominates, Top Teams Flex Their Muscles

If Week 1 was about upsets, Week 2 was about the top programs reminding everyone why they're ranked where they are. The top seven teams in the country outscored their opponents by a combined 307-26, and the gap between the haves and have-nots in college football has never been more apparent.

Dominant Performances

Ohio State 70, Grambling 0

The Buckeyes put on a historic offensive display. Julian Sayin completed his first 16 passes -- a school record -- and Ohio State's offense was clicking on all cylinders. After the defensive masterclass against Texas in Week 1, this game showed the Buckeyes have elite firepower on both sides of the ball.

Four Teams Hit 70+

For only the second time in the AP poll era (since 1936), four ranked teams scored 70 or more points in the same week. The top of college football is operating at a different level this season, and these early-season cupcake matchups are doing nothing to slow their momentum.

The Indiana Story Begins

While everyone was watching Ohio State, Indiana quietly continued building something special under Curt Cignetti. The Hoosiers handled their Week 2 opponent comfortably, but the real story was the efficiency. Fernando Mendoza was surgical in the passing game, and Indiana's defense continued to show the aggressive, disciplined style that would carry them deep into the season.

At this point, most analysts were still dismissing Indiana as a feel-good story. Our models, however, were starting to flag something different -- their efficiency metrics were grading out among the top 10 nationally.

Prediction Performance Notes

Week 2's slate was dominated by heavy favorites, and the results largely followed expectations.
